Camping

Well, the family and I went for our first camping trip of the year. I love camping, but there are a few things I detest about it.......the packing and unpacking.....ugh!  But it was well worth it.....
Isn't it beautiful?
We met up with my brother and some of his friends out a Summit state park. It's beautiful out there and the lake is huge!I would recommend it to anyone who doesn't mind primitive camping. However,  it was so damp and wet Saturday night , you could see the dew on the grass before sundown...

Another good use of an ironing broad....

A fish cleaning station....how clever! And of coarse the best part about primitive camping is....

Just kidding, however at least with all the cool weather they weren't too bad...yet.... Usually I do mind a porta-potty, but the closest ones were about 2 blocks away and up hill the whole way back.
Now, this is the best part about camping....

Ahhh, a nice and toasty camp fire when it's below 50 degrees overnight... when there is a fire there is smoke which means...................

Playtime in the smoke of the fire......

Oh, yeah......You know what comes next.....can you hear the theme music for Star Wars yet?

Battle royal in the camp smoke......gotta love them teen boys!

T has become a tent whisperer....Bless his soul, it took him 3 times to fold that tent, but he did it! We planned on staying 2 nights but I have to admit I couldn't make it another night. It was way to wet and cold out there...We'll go again soon..
Ta..ta till next time......

Last day of School!

Yeah! It's the last day of school for my teens. As I sit at my youngest 6Th grade graduation I start to ponder the last year......Can't believe I now have Senior? and no more in grammar school? As of the end of today, I have a 12th, 10th, and a 7th grader. Oh, where does the time go?  It's been a new chapter in parenthood with the teens, and so far I'm enjoying the ride. I'm kinda scared to say, I think I like this stage? Now that I've said that, I think it's gonna come to bite me?  So far, I've gone through one son driving on his own, to teaching another how to drive, first girlfriends....both of them passing me up in height and one even taller than Dad now.... to the awkwardness of trying to find an age appropriate swim suite for lil M, and all the lovies that come with young ladies.....Thank you teens for acheiving so much this last year and being such darn good kids!

Untill next time...Ta ta!

Spring has Sprung!

We've had a rather gloomy spring this year. Or so it seems, for it is only nice outside when I have to work. I finally got some pictures the other day of my Spring plants........

Ahh...my ferns...I just love them! To bad to think that they will stay when the house sells. Its taken me 10 years and 2 little saplings from a friends garden to get this full and pretty.

 Then theres my giant hosta's

Ahh anohter favorite.......peony's!

I was so excited when we bought this house many many years ago that it alrady had peony's.
Then Only got 1 iris this year, cuz of the pups. They found my Iris bed the sunnest spot of the yard, so it became their sun bathing bed......lil bugers!

oh...can't for get my Morning Glory's...

They are just starting to poke their little heads up.....Can't wait!  Then I planted some wave petunias, and light pink geranimus...

It's just so nice, to finially see some green and color poke through all this gloomy weather...
Ta..ta till next time.....

P. Scott

A while ago I can apon a beautiful water pitcher at a thrift shop. I coundn't take my eyes off it.

And of corse you can tell right away that it's form someone's cermac class, but what mother would donate a childs master piece?  Look underneth....

Hummm.....Well, Whoever or wherever P. Scott is, you now have a new loveing home here! So, I have named this water pitcher the Scott's....Would you like to meet them?

Introducing...Mr. and Mrs. Phenias Scott. Aren't they just adorable? All the texture, contoures and the look with the little sparkles just speak to me! Let's take a closer look...

The Spout.

The Handle.
I just love the flow of it, and in my little mind these two are greatly in love while dancing the evening away at some lovely ball...I know...I need to get out more, but really that's what I hear and see in my head when I look at them......

Who would have thought that I could get so much happiness out of less than a dollar? Oh well....what can I say? I'm a hopeless romantic.......
Until next time.

Lobster and pasta.....

So I tried a new recipe today, and it was wonderful. Its Lobster spaghetti with sweet garlic and chives form Herbie Likes Spaghetti.com. So here's what I started with........

Lobster tails, shrimp, chives, garlic, marinara sauce, and sweet vermouth.....I peeled lots and lots of garlic then roasted it in olive oil with the sweet vermouth till golden brown, steamed the lobster, detailed the shrimp...Put it all in a pot.....

Then I added the pasta....

and then let it all simmer together,  so the noodles and absorb the lovely flavors.......and wha-la......

Add some garlic toast and you have a wonderful dinner.  UMMMMM! Thanks Herbie, another good one!

I'll be back soon....Ta ta!

Tongue Taco's?

So, yesterday I was looking for something new to make and the thought of tongue taco's  came to mind. Don't ask me why? It just did. The hubby has had them before and he just raves about them....so here I go!..........................The recipe seemed easy enough....pretty much like a cooking a roast, but peeling off the skin?   OK that's was a little weird...........Here they are after cooking for about 4 hours, and  before I peeled-em.....

And after.............

The top portion is tongue and the bottom is chicken. Had to play it safe in case the teen;s didn't like. I have to be honest.......it was delish.......Now I was not found of the tongue meat as tacos, but as a roast it was absolutely wonderful! I will most definitely be making it again, and the teens liked it too!!

Mostly do to me just being in a crabby mood and the teens driving me nuts!..........The hubby made it up to me with a sweetheart breakfast after a long night at work..........

Happy Mother's Day!

A very Happy Happy Mother's Day to all the mommies out in the world! Well It's been a week since my last post and so much has happened where do I start? How about the first day of our local farmer's market......I went with my daughter Lil M and two wonderful friends Gulia, and Bec Bec...We had a blast! I do have to say I was on a mission.......fresh tomato's...Why? What else for? Homemade sauce from scratch for Manicoti!  And Wha-la! Bunches and Bunches.....To my delight!

And then with some blanching, peeling, garlic, fresh basil, onion, mushrooms, you get this...

Ummmmmm.......... Now I also made my own Manicoti noddles, which was way easier than I thought it was going to be and they tasted scrumptious.  I filled them with a mixture of ricotta, mozzarella, Parmesan, fresh parsley and seasoned ground beef. With all the men in this house just a chesse filling wasn't going to do the trick......So here's how they turned out.........

Sorry the pictures isn't that good. My camera battery was dead and I grabbed my cell phone, because I wasn't gonna wait to dive into these babies......and do I dare toot my own horn???      Ah....... yeah!  ............................................Delish! Ta ta...Till next time.
