Garage Sale Find

So, to my surprize the garage sale signs started popping up in the nieghborhood about a week ago. Which is really early in this part of the world, because you never know what season it s gonna be. Rain, snow, sun, wind, we gettem all this time of year. After much begging of the teens and dragging my hubby along looky at what I found................

When I first laid eye's on her it was love at first sight! I was just talking with the hubby about getting a vintage desk and converting it into a sewing table......I call it fate, and the work is already done.......Now she just needs a touchup on paint and new knobs................and maybe some old style casters?  How about a vintage sewing machine?  Oh, watch out world I'm on a mission........Ummm you remember this little chair project I started a while ago.........

Before.................

.....................wait.................

..................................wait...................

..............................it's almost here....................

After..................

And as you can see....Oscar has claimed it. Which is why I have not completly finished it. I need to paint the legs and put the little lace skirt on...... I'll keep you updated.
So, Ta, ta for now!

I'm Knitting! I Think?....

Update....A while ago I signed up for a private knitting class. Why private.....because I'm klutz when I'm trying to learn anything new..lol  I have to say it was a bit frustrating at first. In my mind I could see how the a knit and purl stitch were suppose to be done, but for the life of me my hands would not cooperate. I felt like I was working with 2 left big toes...yes I said toes! It's been almost a week since that lesson so.....here's a little peek of all my hard work..........................

Now it's taken all week to get this far...After many ripping out and starting over, and over, and over.  I proudly say....I can now cast on, knit and purl stitch.  A big thanks to Joe at Personal Threads for his patience....

Did ya see the peek of afghan in the corner? That's Ja's blanky I'm working on.

It's coming along nicly. To funny how it doesn't phase the dogs, that I just flopped it down on them and started taking pictures..  Well, I'm off to crochet and knit the night away......Hope you all had a Happy Kester!   Ta Ta  :o)

To Funny!

Ok, so it's spring and I have two dog's...need I say anymore as to what my backyard looks like? I've been bugging the teens and the my Hubby to pick up, but it just keeps getting put off.   Until....... to my astonishment I hear the shop vac the other day...and what to I see when I look out back????

My genius of a husband....Oh yeah.....shop vac'n the dog poop.......LOL!  He looked at me and said, "look no raking and shoveling the poop, I just put a trash bag liner in the vac, and it works!"

So, I get a clean backyard and he get genius points.....Now lets just wait and see if he remembers to empty it, before it hits 100+ degrees outside...........he he....

Nay's Blanky!

Well,Well, It's been a very productive few days here. I finished Nay's blanky, and it's beautiful! It's gonna be hard to give this one up!

I just love the colors and the ripples.I found this pattern very relaxing, and enjoyed making it. I just hope she loves it!

Now in these last few days I have to admit that I have been out thrifting. My hubby calls it an addiction, but I call it therapy...he he...Look at what I found....

Isn't it just lovely? The color and texture just drew me in and I was hooked.  Do ya notice the vintage green lace table cloth under it??? Another find!

Lastly, I have started Ja's blanky. It's gonna be another beauty! Here's a sneak peek....

The colors just don't show up very well. So here's a close up....

This blanket will be a random mix of these colors in 18 inch squares. Can't wait to see how it turns out!

Ending with a Splash or so I thought?

So, I'm at the end of restful 5 days off of work.  Being Friday night and the last of my run of nights off I decided to make homemade pizza crust and all. I've done it before no big deal...yeah right!  Tired a new recipe for the crust that flopped, or should I say didn't rise. Thank goodness for the emergency backup premade roll out crusts. I browned them on my griddle at 400 degrees to get a nice chewy crust. Then I tried to make my own sauce but I accidentally put hot chili powder instead of my pizza seasoning in. Again, thank goodness for canned pizza sauce as a backup. I always have some in the pantry.

Hamburger-Onion-Peperoni

And then I chopped and sliced and diced for what seemed like forever...

Gourmet Veggie: Garlic Alfredo sauce, artichoke hearts, spinach, green and yellow squash, red onion, mushrooms, Roma tomatoes, dash of black olives

And lastly....garlic cheese bread.......

End result....Dinner was delish, but I won't try that crust recipe again. I will be more careful when grabbing for my spices and I will  ALWAYS have a backup in the pantry!  Ta Ta.....Have a happy weekend!

What did I do today?

What a relaxing day! I crawled back into bed for a few hours so some serious nap time....Here's why...
Ok....my name is Ali and I'm a kindle-a-holic.....I just can't seem to put it down. Day or night. If it wasn't for Debbie Macombers'  The Shop on Blossom Street  I'd be fine. It's a delightful book about a woman that open a yarn shop, and starts a knitting class. The book covers the four characters lives and new friendships. It inter loops all their trials and tribulations. OMG! I couldn't put it down. In fact I've already bought the next 4 in the series.  Well, it looks like no sleep for me, oh but wait I work nights so I'm up all night anyway.

Now I did run a few errands, returning and whatnot. I did however make it to get more yarn for Nays' blanket..

I do have to admit, it's my favorite out of the bunch. And boy did I get lucky. I got the last three they had. Hope its enough to finish it. Well, back to crocheting for now.. Ta ta!

Lazy Day?

I'm in the middle of 5 days off of work and what should I do? not sure. It's going to be beautiful outside today. Yard work, Flowers shopping, finish my chair project, finish the matching quilt, work on Nay's blanket or my hexagon blanket, give the puppies a bath, the list is endless...or let's see......go back to bed for a while? Hummm.. that's a tough one.

It's such a tough decision. I'm going to go back to think about it....he he he

I'm taking my ques from my puppies!
Ta Ta for now.

Wonderful day!

Oh, what a wonderful day today was! I got some much needed house cleaning done and even made a scrumpcious Mexican dinner.

Chicken tacos, homemade refried beans, Spanish rice and salsa.  Can you say YUMMOOO! Special thanks to my Bestie for all my Mexican recipes. I even caught a few cool pictures of the teens. Not much longer before they start leaven the nest, so I gotta take advantage of all the time I have with them...

We caught some late day sun on the side of the garage, and I couldn't resist....

I think I actually caught a "shadow in time"...lol  Ok, now I'm getting sappy. So, I'm moven on the next subject.

I've uploaded some of my mom's oil paintings....

You've got to check them out under Gamma's paintings..

Niece's Blanket.....

Well, I've started a new blanket. I'm just thrilled with it. I took my niece's to the yarn store and let them go. I told them to pick what they wanted for their blankets, and I have to say these two little girls have an eye for color. It was so much fun. be fore I knew it the cart was full!  Here's a glance....

Doesn't the color flow nicely? I just adore this ripple pattern. With compliments to Lucy at Attic24  Her patterns are wonderful, easy to read, step by step pictures too! I just can't wait to see it finished! I just hope Nay loves it as much as I do.

Ta ta for now....I'll be back soon!
